The new episode drop of The Owl House coincides with actress Mae Whitman, who voices Amity, coming out as pansexual on social media. Im so proud & happy to say that #OwlHouse - Alex Hirsch August 9, 2020 Apparently “happiest place on earth” meant “straightest” But as of today, thanks to & team there are explicitly queer ANIMATED MAIN CHARACTERS on DISNEY TV. Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls and voice of King on The Owl House, tweeted about the sheer difference in trying to get LGBTQ+ representation just a few years ago.īack when I made GF Disney FORBADE me from any explicit LGBTQ+ rep. But The Owl House broke through previous barriers, making Luz and Amity’s relationship the main romantic focus of the show. In the first season, it was revealed that Amity had a crush on Luz in the episode “Enchanting Grom Fright,” marking the first main LGBTQ character in a Disney Channel animated series.Ĭompared to other all-ages animation programming, Disney Channel has lagged behind in terms of LGBTQ representatio, even though its live-action shows, like Andi Mack, have featured prominent queer storylines. Along the way, Luz befriends a variety of young witches - including aloof overachiever Amity Blight (Mae Whitman). Determined to learn magic, she studies under the questionable guidance of con artist Eda the Owl Lady (Wendie Malick), who lives in a magical talking house with a tiny, but fierce demon named King. The Owl House follows Luz (Sarah-Nicole Robles), a plucky and misfit teenage girl, who accidentally stumbles into a realm of witches and demons.

While the show has been greenlit for a third and final season, it won’t be a complete one - but streaming might just rekindle interest and grant the show a new life. The animated fantasy show, from Gravity Falls alum Dana Terrace, premiered on Disney Channel in early 2020, with new episodes airing on the network.
#OWL HOUSE SEASON 1 PLUS#
Only time will tell. The first 10 episodes of the second season of The Owl House are available on Disney Plus today. While she hasn’t been in much yet, Tati Gabrielle is working her way up in Hollywood, and I personally believe it won’t be long before we get to see her pop up in a lot more projects. I swear, if he didn’t have that inner monologue, we’d all hate him, right? The show, from the first season to now, has been nothing but twists and turns, and somehow, still always paints Joe in a not-so-bad light for being a creep/serial killer.

Their scenes together were both amazing and terrifying knowing how how territorial Joe's wife, Love, is about her man. Tati Gabrielle joining on as Joe’s current love interest, Marienne, fits so well, especially with the potential continuation of their story in the You Season 3 ending. You is entertaining and addictive to watch. You follows Joe Goldberg, a man who falls in love way too easily and then gets obsessed with said girl, and is willing to do anything in order to be with her - including kill anyone that might be in his way.

You has certainly become a big hit, and Tati Gabrielle was one more great addition to the series. (Image credit: Netflix) You (Season 3) (Netflix)
